Here is a quick, easy and light weight way to mount the coils.
I'm not sure I would want the coils to be mounted directly on the
engine...
I would expect the vibrations to cause 1) early failure of the coil,
and
2)
easier high terminal wire disconnections. I've also noted some wire
terminal connections "worked" to the point of failure with engine
vibrations...
Let me know of your experiences with solid engine attachment and
coil/
wiring life expectancies.

The 3rd gen series FD cars mount the smaller size 93+ coils on top of
the engine between the housings and the intake. They don't fail too too
often but it is known to happen. You should see the mess beneath that
intake.
There was a fellow in FL who made adaptors for the LS1 coils to mount in
a large milled AL bracket that fitted onto the top of the engine(or
elsewhere).
