I just figured out why the NSU RO-80 p-port idles well
and works so great. I never noticed this before.
Here is a shot of the NSU Wankel Spider
motor showing the two stages of the P-port.
The RO-80 was a two rotor version of this engine.
Obviously the big p-port hole is not used at idle.

So they are using the small port for idle, and the large port, or both for
high RPM?
