When we make a nebulous suggestion like "use the later model of
..." it is
helpful, and I thank you but could suggestions please give a little
more
detail if possible.
Better yet why not list "preferred" parts on the ACRE web site or
since this
great engine allows so much mix and match, list parts; yr, model,
p/n if
available and what they offer in pros and cons. Otherwise we depend
on a lot
of folklore and that really impedes new people from getting up to
speed.

When someone says later in the the 2nd gen RX-7 realm that means 89-91
vs. 86-88 model years.  Not nebulous at all.  Later 2nd gens had many
incremental changes, including a pulsation damper that cannot spew
fuel, lighter higher compression rotors, and a whole host of electrical
system improvements that anyone who has ever owned an early 2nd gen car
can appreciate.  You can tell these cars because they have body colored
trim and impala style tail lights. (think four round ones).

Does anyone else think that Mazda stuff is just plain strange and
backwards in many ways?  I was into my cousins Miata the other day, and
I kept thinking, this thing is like an RX-7.  Here is what I mean:
Vacuum lines and vacuum switches everywhere.  Many functions that other
car makers that I am familiar with (BMW, Honda) use electricity for
Mazda does with electrically switched vacuum, for what seems like
triple the moving parts.  I love the wankel, but their implementation
in cars has been pretty crappy in many ways, and now I see that they do
the same thing in all their cars.

Maybe it is a keiretsu thing and they own stock in a vacuum hose
company or something.

P.S.  If some one wants to put together a parts list, I could probably
find the mazda parts numbers for them.

I do. I sure hope they don't do that on the RX8 and all the servos
are electric. That stuffs a night mare to maintain.
