 Last week I spent a lot of time on oil cooler placement.  For a long
 time, I pondered fitting two Setrabs and that would have worked, I
 think, mounting them like cheek rads  only below the drive . These
 are not the two  Paul modeled in Rhino but more rectangular (13 x 4 x
 2).  Then I went back to an old idea of mounting the Mazda oil cooler
 horizontally just below the MMP.  That would work too.  Attached is a
 drawing of how the it would "flow."    I  Finally, I ended up putting
 the Mazda oil cooler horizontally in front of the fire wall which I
 sent pictures of yesterday.  When I finally tried this position, all
 the oil cooler problems went away.   When designing the motor mount,
 make sure the engine is far enough forward that the oil cooler can be
 fitted.  In my case,  the distance from the fire wall to the
 accessory case flat next to the drive pulley is 8.25 inches.  Looks
 like 7.5 inches would be sufficient.   Jerry

 oil filter has be mounted.

Why don't you move it down closer to the bottom of the cowl Jerry?
that would save cowl volume for other things mounted on the
firewall above it. BTW Chuck Dunlap is using this mounting
position.

The oil cooler is where it is because there is a nice convenient
cross member to attach it to.  It can be lowered if need be.   I am
trying to think of what needs to mounted on the fire wall.   There is
the swirl pot, the catch can, two fuel pumps....What else?   Jerry
