You keep talking about "power hungary". Are you getting these
attachments? They are less than half the power at 4000 RPM than a
stock solid state inductive system!

Once and for all.... CD systems now USE less power not more!!!!

The rapid rise time of the spark is WHY they can punch through
fouling deposits!

At high RPM (above 3000 RPM) the single CD pulse is
just the right width and no more! Why have a spark that
last 100 MS
when combustion is all over in 5 MS!

Paul, take a look at the charts in your message and decide
if the data
makes any sense.

 The chart on power consumption is obviously bogus.  It
shows a power
consumption for EI ignition to be over 4 times higher than
points at
6000 RPM.  I think you pointed out in an earlier post that the only
difference between the two was that EI ignition simply uses a
transistor in place of points to switch the coil current on
and off.  This is correct.
  Question, why would replacing points with a transistor cause the
power to quadruple?

Not bogas.
Two reasons. Dwell angle control and dwell duration control.
Modern solid state inductive systems do both. Heisler
provides the schematic for such a system. I highly recommend
this book. There are errors here and there mostly in the
illustrations but it deals with many of the latest engine
developments of all kinds except the rotary.

BTW Can anybody find the real error in one of the Heisler
charts I uploaded?

The chart that shows  the duration (spark-time2.gif) does not seem
right. It shows duration over 100 ms (milliseconds) but at 6000 RPM, one
shaft revolution only takes 10 ms. Maybe duration should be
Micro-seconds?

Bingo! Right on Chuck. I think they dropped the decimal point
off the chart. .4 MS is about right for a CD system.
Here is a version of the chart where I added the missing 
decimal point. 

My guess is Heinze did not get a chance to review
the book in final paste up or he missed a few mistakes
in the graphics. Typical in the old days of publishing
before the authors got a chance to review a pdf file
of the final work.
