 Subject: Weights of various types of motor mounts.

I was kind of curious about the weights of various motor
mount arrangements.

A bell housing plate  14 inch diameter 1/2 inch thick plate with 
a nine inch hole will weigh about 4.5 pounds.

A pan sandwich plate 14 inchs wide by 16 inches long, 1/4 inch thick
will weigh about 5.6 pounds less the weight of any holes.

A 3 X 1 X 1/2 by 0.049 steel hat section about 30 inches long
will weigh about 2.6 pounds. Each nine inch long 1/2 inch square
0.049 thick brace tube will weigh an additional .26 pounds each.
Total weight for this mount about 3.12 pounds. 

An aluminum channel section 3 by 1 by 30 inches long
by 1/8 thick would weigh 1.87 pounds with a total
weight including brace tubes of about 2.4 pounds. 

Aluminum is about .1 pound per cubic inch and steel is 
about .3 pounds per cubic inch.
