Our man Richard Sohn came up with a big surprise
at this years Shady Bend Rotary Engine flyin.
I had the idea of using a steel plate and Royce (I think)
came up with the idea of just milling down the end housings
and using their wear surfaces.

There are a few details yet to be finalized but it
is 95% there. It uses a Subaru water pump so the
water pump location is flexible.

Richard did the entire thing on his CC (Cheap Chinese) mill :-)

Light weight aluminum end housing castings, detonation coated and ground
are too expensive and too problematic. This is a cost breakthrough and
a low technical risk, low tech solution.

As you may remember Richard successfully manufactures and sells adapters
that feed 2 cycle oil to the apex oil metering pump from a separate oil tank
instead of the engine having to burn that crud out of the oil pan.
Most of his customers are RX7 owners.

This will also work on a 13B and a 20b to further improve the already
excellent power to weight ratio.

How about a calculation for a 9G ultimate on those ears with a 13B and 20B
hanging from them.  How thick is that plate?
Looks like we need a new measurement on the MM Plate blocks for Tracy's
redrive.
Do you think the Sub pump is up to the HP load of a 13 or 20B?.
As an RV-4 owner this looks great.

13B in gestation mode

The plate is about one inch thick. For a 13B or a 20B I would make it
thicker or reinforce the ears with gussets. Or don't use them at all and build
a PSRU/Adpator-Motor-plate mount such me and Jerry Hey are building.

The loads on this plate have nothing to do with Tracy redrive plate as
if you use that for motor mounts the high inertial and torque loads are in 
near perfect shear and not bending.
