What your saying is that the aluminum will transfer sufficient heat
from the
oil to cause a meltdown of the berry mounts? I didn't pay too much
attention to the Schertz beam motor mount emails since I was far
enough down
the road with this design. Could you publish, on your web site or
resend
the notes on schertz design.
It looks like the Schertz beam is a section of square tubing (what
size?).
How does the beam attach to the engine. There are no tapped bolt
fittings
on the engine that are large enough to handle the loads. Is the beam
welded
to a plate that is sandwiched between the block and the oil pan? How
is
heat transfer into the beam controlled or isn't it an issue with the
lower
heat coefficient of steel?
Also, I looked for the url that would allow me to search the recent
notes on
this subject but couldn't figure out how to do it. Are the Acre NL
archieves searchable?
Attached are some photos of my engine mount. Hopefully I can remove
the
aluminum plate and exchange it with a Schertz beam after I get the
details
on how to construct one. The pictures with the engine positioned have
only
some of the tubing tack welded to the rear mounts (above alternator
and
below the water pump housing). The two pictures without the engine
show the
finished engine mount (before sandblasting and painting).
