I guess I was lucky on my return flight from Copperstate,
in that the fouling was just starting and the plugs quickly
recovered. After I got back home it got much worse.
I still had about 20 gallons of evil gas in my tanks when
I got home. The first couple short flights the fouling was
worse, it would not clear up. So I took the plugs out and
cleaned them, added 10 gallons of mogas to the remaining
10 gallons of 100LL. It was fine again until today. Plugs
were once again fouled after operating a couple hours on
50% mogas/50% avgas. Would not clear. Now I've
added more mogas, probably down to a 25% avgas mixture,
and I'm going to have to take the plugs out again and clean
them once more.

I'm using BUR9EQP trailing platinum plugs in all four
locations. I think this makes the fouling worse since
the 9 is a colder plug.

I think you may have to look beyond your plugs to fix the problem. I
am
using B9 leading and B10 trailing as per advice from the Aussie from
Sydney
(Leon) and have been using avgas ordinary (lots of TEL) with no
problems.
Maybe a switch to spiral ignition leads (Tracy) called Bosch Super,
and no R
in the plug. Better suppression too. Just a thought.

I do have Bosch wires, don't think they are Super but I'll check,
standard faire bought at Autozone.
I burned lots of 100LL in the early days but don't remember ever
having
this problem until now. It
could be the trailing plugs in the leading positions are the culprit.
I
think I'll switch back to 7s leading
and avoid 100LL.

I don't have any idea how the stock ECU leans the engine at altitude.
All I know is it works
great up to 13,500 feet using an atmospheric pressure sensor. I doubt
it leans it as much
as Tracy does.

I now have 370 hours, 200 on the rebuilt engine. I have over 50 hours
on
the platinum plugs,
maybe the problem is worn out plugs, maybe they don't last any longer
than the standards :-)

If you have resistance leads and resistance plugs you may have too much
resistance!
