The complexity seems like a reason to go with a simpler aftermarket
turbo....
There are two exhaust gas runners on my stock 91 so I assume it it
twin scroll. Have not had it apart to be sure.
I am not clear on the terms "high end inlet" and "upper end".
Sounds like you are referring to the 93 and later dual sequential turbo
chargers. PL
Paul,
What I mean is that above 2500rpm (ok, maybe high isn't the right term ;-),
a vacuum actuated valve opens up a secondary turbine inlet (or scroll) and
this reduces or eliminates "turbo lag". I'm not referring to the twin
turbos. This is from Yamaguchi "RX-7". It is the turbo Hitachi HS18S-2S.
Are you planning on using your stock turbo, an aftermarket or no turbo?

Ok that was the very early 87-88 turbo. That system cracked
in so many places most of us have rejected it for aircraft use.
Mazda changed that almost immediately and did away with that feature.
The hot tip appears to be the much simpler 89-92 2nd gen.
