The aluminum flux that I will use to weld up the pan requires that it be
removed after welding because it is quite corrosive.  What I would like to
do is cut the core out of the top plate so I can have easy access into
inside of the pan for cleaning.

Attached is a turbocad drawing that should accommodate the pickup tube and
the dip stick.  The volume came out at 4.5 quarts. The drawing only shows
the side walls and bottom pieces.  It does not show the top sheet that
attaches to the engine block.  Three of the sides slope at 45 degrees while
the side, where the dip stick is located, is laid up at 90 degrees.  The
drawing has a 3d layer that illustrates the pan when it is welded up.

Dell can't handle 3D dwg's. Can you plot it as a bit map? gif, jpg,
bmp, tiff, etc., etc. etc.. 

I assume you are using ACAD 2000 up.
