Ed, and anybody else that is interested, here is the D5000 manual.

Ed, what O.S. does your notebook use. The software came with
a terminal program. Different versions for different O.S.'s
I'll send you the right version.

Terminal programs are real easy to use. It is like sending
email. You say something to the data acq module and the module
talks back :-)

Paul, I have Windows 95.0 Ver 4.00.950A on the laptop and it has a
Hyperterminal which provides the Terminal program.  I can hook it up

to

COM1

and can set baud and the other settings including control  Not

familar

with

the control options.  For control setting  has Xon/Xoff and Hardware

and

a

third one -None (I think -forgot to copy it down) options.  .  It

supposedly

can handle up to 38400 baud but I think 9600 might be enough and
conservative without getting data drop out. I'll read over the

user's

manual

and see what it calls for or if you have any suggestions - suggest

away.

I am not sure what this is but I think it is a config file for
Hyper Terminal Windows 95. Or it could be a HT script file.
Something Omega sent me. I'll wire the unit up and get it working
and configed before I send the whole works.

    Also, I just happen to think, I can place my Garmin in the holder

here

at home with the LapTop and get the GPS end of checked out before even
sticking it in the aircraft.  The question I presume is how to

interleave

the D5000 data stream and the 2 second interval GPS data in a capture
program.  Anyhow, lets keep working on it.

The GPS data takes awhile to download so we will capture all data
only every four seconds rather than just every two seconds :-)

Let me know if that GPS capture program I sent works with your GPS.
If you average the lat long data over a period of time you will
know precisely, down to the inch, where your house is :-)
Not only that you can set your clocks in the house accurate
to a microsecond :-)

Sounds good, Paul.
  I agree that position info ever 4 seconds is more than enough.    I need
to get out the Garmin cable and connect it to a D9 plug for the serial PC
port and then I'll run the program and let you know.
