Ed how do you feel about booting your notebook with
a DOS 5.0 boot disk I can send you? Omega sent me a lot
of DOS software. Much easier to use than windows stuff.
Also way faster. Furthermore I can knock out very small
comm programs in Quick BASIC lickity split.

 I have MS DOS 6.22 if you prefer. It has a lot of much nicer features than 5. It does use more disc space, although I doubt that's even a consideration with any laptop made in the past 8 years. My favorite is the DELTREE command. Saves lots of time.  :-)

If we are just needing DOS to run Dos software, just make a boot disk with win9x.
Format a floppy with the s parameter and you get the heart of dos 7 in three files, command.com, the command intrepreter, io.sys, the input/output, and msdos.sys. All the files you need to run DOS.
Total of 308kb.
