IIRC  win 9 XX uses  device drivers in GUI mode , so you can't hit the
hardware as such. I got PC - check which fits on a bootable floppy if you
want it. let me know if you want it transmitted as an attachment .

The prompt you get with 95 is officially Dos 7, and  98  gives Dos 8 ho hum.

PC Check sounds good. Can you zip and send it?
I have used Checkit but Checkit can find nothing running under DOS 7.
Windows tells me it is there however. I suspect Erik is right
and it has something to do with the IR port. Does anybody know
how to get into the BIOS on a IBM notebook with software BIOS?
