Well I have finished test on two very different pumps. I have tested the head through the block with some  surprising results.
All test where checked with a nomometer, gauge, digital tacho, stopwatch and scales.
The Toyota pump was driven by a variable speed electric drill as per photo. The is 500 watts output and it  did'nt growl at all.
Head rise across the block is 1.420 metre head and my gauge was reading 2 lbs. Tubes where fitted to the inlet  hose and outlet hose.
There seams to be higher reading on the tube out let where all reading's where taken for the graph attached.

Wilst I had every thing set up I tried one of the electric pumps that are manufactured for cars. this is a  Craig Davies unit.
The results are on max flow through the block 65 litre per minute and drawing 6 amps at 12 volts on battery  with charger running.
Head on the test was .800m and was run for 1 hour without any change in amp draw.
Running this pump with the drum vertical 1.2 metre high drawing water over the top and returning with over a  metre head on the pump it
also run a 6 amps and over 70 litre per minute. In this situation it actualy primed on the first atempt but  would not on a second try and
had
to be primed.

It is interesting to note that the Toyota pump would not run in this situation. After several atempts I lifted  the pump but was unable to
keep
it running. That is when I layed the drum down and made all tests with floaded suction.
It has acurred to me that we may be having cooling problems due to the pump thermostat housing being reduce by  200mm tacking head
from the pump. My tests prove that the floaded suction head is very important.

I will leave my setup in place and run any other test that the group may come up with. Bill if you still have  you engine pump test still in
place it may be good to run some more test on the standard Mazda pump to see if it is effected by the loss of  floaded head.

I am a bit confused here. It appears that the water will run out of the barrel
without the pump.
