We have restructured the Everett Hatch Memorial Prize Fund
for the realities of 2003.

$500 for any 13B NA averaging **over 200 MPH** in any sanctioned cross country
air race over 100 miles. Sun & Fun, Jackpot, Apple Valley to
Copper State or NC to OSH etc., etc..

$600 for any 13B turbo or 20B turbo or 20B NA averaging over
220 MPH in any sanctioned cross country air race over 100 miles.

When the flag drops the BS stops.

Racing, like flying has a way of "cutting to the chase" does it
not?    Especially an air race.

I think you forgot the speed of the 13B NA average, Paul   ...
Also, you should probably state NOS (or not) ... or maybe a "speed
penalty" of plus 5 knots if used?

Notice the ... knots ... ?  might you also consider setting the
speed in knots?  You are doing a disservice to any pilot if you
discourage him from "thinking in knots".

How about:

13B NA  ...  175 Knots (201.4 mph)  ...

13B Turbo, 20B NA or Turbo, or any NOS system  ...  200 Knots (230
mph) ...

Sets the bar just a little higher for the "big bucks boys", but sets
a real milestone goal.  200+ Knots is big league speed.

An old Beech King Air A-90 twin turboprop that I used to fly had a
flight plan of only 210 Knots!

Makes a lot of real estate available in a 2 hour radius.

Just a suggestion.

200 MPH has a better PR ring to it than 175 KTS. No way is anybody
going to cool at 200 Kts for 100 miles in the forseeable future :-)
At least none of the 20B proposed cooling schemes I have seen so far.
