I tried the 8" pulley on my flow system, driving the water pump. Exciting,
but no cigar. The motor drew so much current that it blew the circuit
breaker before a steady state pressure could be achieved. I had a clamp on
ammeter that was loaned to me, and it would peg at 50 amps on the starting
current, and then decay to ~25 amps as the rpm came up, then the circuit
breaker would pop.
50 amps at 115 Volts 7.7 HP Impressive :-) 115 volts at 25 amps 3.85 HP also
impressive. You want to try a 7 inch pulley?
Best guess on pressure (valve closed) is ~30psi, however it was still rising
when the breaker blew.
Best measurement on flow was 12 seconds to pump 5.8 gallons, with an outlet
pressure of 3.5 psi. Hard to measure as the breaker would blow about the
time the bucket filled.
5.8 gallons in 12 seconds is 29 gallons a minute. Pretty good.
Here is a picture of the setup with your 8" pulley installed. What do you
want me to do with the pulley?
