Well, I rough cut my first single rotor e-shaft..
Easy to see why that shaft is so reliable.
It is made of a very dense close grained steel.
I knew there was a lot of metal to be removed. Didn't realize the
extent of that
though. Took a while to cut it all off.

Now it just needs to be finish ground and heat treated.
Frank had noted that there was not enough material left to make
the front main
journal without adding an inner bearing race. This shaft seems to
have about 1/16
inch over the journal diameter for the front bearing.
Will grind to the final size on a crank grinder, and see, but I
think that it will
do just fine. Get that journal induction heatreated, and I should
have a fine
shaft.

It is a 13B shaft. Using 12A rotor and rotor housing, with
aluminum side
housings. The 13B shaft was chosen because it already has
lightening holes in the
ecentric, and lots of metal has to be cut off anyway..

Congratulations, Royce. What do you charge to do e-shafts for us
other
6.5ers ? (:>}

Fred we have to get this jewel up and running to prove the concept.
After that point
we'll see if we want to do that or not.
The biggest item on the ticket is the side housings. Once they are
produced and workable
the e-shaft won't be a big deal.

Hi all,
Dont the 13B's have wider rotor bearings, thus making the 13B Eccentric
shaft unusable with a 12 A rotor?
