Welcome to the news letter Michael. Yes I am still waiting for
someone with a whole lot of money to try a turbo compound
Mazda 13B rotary :-) I am dumbfounded that Mazda has not tried this
yet with all the talk of global warming and so fourth.

It is much simpler to do it with a wankel as the engine is already
rotating at turbine like speeds so no need for gearing between
engine and turbine, unlike the elaborate gearing that is required using 
a big old low RPM piston engine. Furthermore there are no exhaust
valves to break up and destroy the turbine on the way out.
The Achilles heel of the R-3350 TC.

The new RX8 engine is even more ideal as it is redlined at 8500 RPM.
