Paul old mate!
I am considering a 12A - for all sorts of reasons. I'm guessing this
manifold won't fit a 12A, because of the length difference !?

Well I'm not committed yet but the 12 A has some attraction.
BTW I was going to ask you the same question, as I noticed you were using
the 12A while sorting through some old e-mail messages.

Firstly a good friend suggested it was a good way to for cost reasons and
the fact a 12A can be built with new parts cheaper than a 13b with used
parts.

It was suggested that the series 2&3 end plates were still the best to use
even for a 12A rebuild.

Although the 12A rotors are heavier they can be lightened and already have a
3mm seal.

But most importantly, I only need 125hp (although the Vision has the
capacity for 160hp (max).
I would like (as Paul and other would like) a clockwise turning prop( for
obvious reasons).
Therefore I will need to use the 2.85 Ford Planetary ( Planetary of proven
reliability)
If I use 2.85 I get 125hp + at 7,500 rpm from the 12A and at 75% cruise the
rpm is 6,000 (these are approximate NA figures) these figures seem just
great to me !!

However If I use a 13b even at 6,000 rpm I've got186 hp (excess of
requirement and beyond hp limitations) - running less hp (RPM) and the most
efficient prop would be way too big for the ground clearance for the Vision
as well as added stresses on bearings etc.

If Paul does the bellhousings, I may as well use the 13b and detune the
engine somehow and that is especially so if he manages the aluminium end
housings - but I suppose they could just as easily be used on a 12A.

Then again - - - I just lost my train of thought as the wife was instructing
me on something or other.
Is there any other reasons you have chosen the 12A.
