Your proposed belhousing is beautiful but.... I just gotta say it - I like Tracy's idea of an open housing better. I WANT to see what is going on in there!!! But for those of you who really want a convetional looking bellhousing, this should look really nice.

You can cut an inspection hole in it if you wish between the ribs.
Don't forget, this will also provide mounting for the engine.
Tracy's 1/2 inch plate, spacers and long 10 mm bolts weighs
over 10 pounds as I recall and does not provide for
engine mounting.

Also by removing the starter you will have a large inspection hole.
If it make everybody feel better I can cast in the inspection
holes in the flat part between the ribs.
