Hi all, there's an ongoing argument on an rx7 club that I belong to
re
oil filters. Some recommend
only those supplied by Mazda, stating that Fram and others are
insufficient. Others claim that
cheaper filters are ok as long as you do regular oil changes and
replace
the filter with each oil
change as opposed to every 2nd change. Any input on this?
        Thanks, Brett.

The Mazda filters are very well made but most airplane builders have to
use
a remote oil filter adapter anyway. I use the HP-1 or equivalent which
is
an industrial strength filter. About 3 times the cost of auto filters
but
you don't have to change them that often.

Thanks Tracy, I'd forgotten about your remote filter set-up. I'm
guessing that these filters will not screw into the stock filter mount or
match the seal diameter.(?) This would maybe be of interest to those poor
ground-bound souls who only travel in two dimensions instead of three. If
this mod can be done in a plane there's no reason it can't be done with an
rx7. What is the cost of this mod?
