I had to relearn to weld after not touching a torch for about 15 years.  I too created a pile of scrap metal while building engine mounts - I think that I built 3 complete engine adapters before getting Paul's blessing on by RV-4 cantilever mount.  I learned that an amateur MUST be willing to start over on a part if he is to be successful in fabrication.  This was especially true in the motor mount fabication (at least for me).  I worked on the motor mount for at least 6 months while trying different designs;  I wish that I had been able to use Rhino for that project!
