Paul and group,
The ball flange Paul shows is a good solution. Another I saw on a
factory exhaust system used a
solid stub into a expanded tube with "flying buttress" like blade
attached to the flange and tube.
A hole is drilled in the end of both parts for a Jet-nutted bolt. This
holds the tube tight and
expands at the same rate as the tube. I wish I could show you a drawing,
can you translate a
solidworks drawing into Rhino? This system avoided most of the pitfalls,
the only worry would be
leakage in a tractor config. Paul, for the spring system wouldn't an
700x spring hold up? Bill

Yes. Send the Solid Works file as a stp file. Also the S.W. native file
version
and I will try that. You can also just do a screen capture (hit Prt Scrn
key)
and import it into MS Paint and save & send it as a .bmp file.

I doubt any spring could withstand 1700 F for long. PowerSport needs
to reprogram their EFI computer if they are running 1700 F during cruise.

They might on a 1400 F piston engine exhaust but I have my doubts 
at 1700 F on a rotary :)
