I think there are some issues with fuel tanks and plumbing.
As I recall it is not recommended for composite fuel tanks.
Despite being several cents cheaper per gallon (probably due
to a CA state tax break) it does not dominate sales in CA.

I think the main problem with alcohol in gasoline is how to keep it
from adsorbing water from the air Think water in the fueling system).

 Actually  the alcohol will aleviate the water problem a great deal.
It will hold the water in soloution and it will be combusted in
the engine with almost no effect instead of settling and causing
stoppage. The primary problem is compatibility with many
of the soft goods in your system, and a slight reduction in
total heating value (range) - Vance J
