The white shaft is the input shaft.
The purple shaft is the output shaft.
Hold the green drum and the output shaft rotates in
the same direction as the input shaft giving a
a gear reduction of 2.85. Release the green drum
and hold the red drum and you have reverse.
When both green and red drums are released the
transmission is in neutral.
The brown gadgets are the sprags in the one way
clutch. They are normally caged but the cage
is not shown here.
This is about six inches in diameter and about six inches
long not counting input and output shaft extensions.
Current cost of the Ford gears is about $130.
You could modify your current cast bell housing pattern
to accommodate this Jon.
