I have 256 hours on the schedule 40 SS pipe used by RB Wagner for

railings.

While they have finally discolored (perhaps due to the long duration

flights

and constant heat of later flights) there is no other deterioation.  In
fact, after the PowerSport accident, I decided that even though I have

flown

185 hours and have 256 hours on the exhaust pipes that the 18" unsported
from the exhaust port to the end of the header pipe is probably asking

for

trouble.   So out tomorrow to put some spring supports although I have
carefully check for cracks near the flange, I have noted none.

My pipes go up into the 1/2" thick flange and are welded on the top

inside

of the flange/pipe area approx 1/8" inch down from the port surface.

The

welder that did it at one time welded turbine blades so apparently knew

what

he was doing.

They are noticably heavier than an equivalent exhaust made out of 0.065

but,

I am pleased with their performance.  Based on the wear so far, I expect
never to have to replace the headers for that reason.
