Hi Paul, I remember about 5 or 6 years ago a retired aerospace engineer
in CA had a prototype 4cyl 2 stroke radial with the exhaust passing thru
a turbine that was connected to the crank. I think his surname was
Theobald. I'll try and look it up. There is nothing new under the sun.

Sometimes old ideas that have fallen out of favor become viable again
when the economic environment changes or there are some developments
in technology that change the balance back in their favor.
I think turbo compounding's time has come again.
