Speaking of the air scoop. A funny thing happened to me when I was
flying the Mooney. There is an extendable air scoop on the cockpit
roof that ventilates the interior. I was flying along minding my own
business when the control cable controlling the scoop door broke.
The door on the scoop did a 110 degree flip and rotated into the
top of the fuselage with a real load BANG!. I thought I was flying over
a military restricted airspace and I had been hit by a SAM! :)
Nah, it was probably that airborne anti-missle lasar rig. How else do you
thing that cable parted? ;-)
I imagine it was a whole lot less funny at the time. Did you ever find that
seat cushion? :-)
