I was on my way to the hardware store this morning and saw a
couple of 200 foot cranes in the Supulveda dam spill way.

I got off the freeway and at the top of the ramp there was
a sign that said "Ford" with an arrow. That's interesting
I said to myself. I went over to the flood basin and parked. 
Mikey and I walked about a mile to the dam and low and behold 
they were shooting a high buck RX8 TV commercial. Apparently it 
has a UFO theme where the RX8 is going to descend or ascend 
in front of the dam emulating a space ship. Perhaps an alien 
will emerge from the red RX8. Looks like the same red RX8 I 
drove a week ago.

The cost of the this commercial alone I estimated at $500,000
to one million. Not counting TV air time. There were two dozen
cars, three dozen people, half a dozen trucks and four man lifts
not counting the two cranes. There was a portable truck mounted 
toilet with hot and cold running water. There was also a full
blown food catering outfit. All this is typical of a full blown 
Hollywood movie or TV series shoot.

Looks like Ford/Mazda are going all out promoting the RX8.
