 If I remember correctly, That was Steve Whitman's and it was a direct drive
 215 CU
 aluminum from 1962.

That is correct Lynn.  The aircraft was flown for years and
accumulated a lot of hours. It is a direct drive and I am told the
prop flange weighed about 50 lbs. All kinds of problems with oiling
(inverted) and cooling of course.   The rad was laid flat on top of
the engine and the top of the cowl had louvers mirror image of what
we are doing now.    It is in the EAA museum.  I am going to check
it out when I go to Oshkosh.   Steve would have loved the Rotary.
