It is not as if the turbo RX7 would have an easy time of it
with all these large V8's :)
This is not true auto racing. It is a money making scam pure and simple.
A circus if you will. Pure NASCAR where all the cars and engines
are identical with only the name changed. Totally boring from
an engineering point of view.
Any true auto racing fan that is interested in the relative performance
of different makes of cars should boycott this so called auto racing
organization's sponsors and races.
Lynn, this sounds like the old IMSA organization with a name change.
Is that correct? At one time IMSA made you carry 650 pounds of
lead ballast if you wanted to run a rotary.

1. The following engines have been approved for competition in Daytona Prototypes.
1) Porsche 3.6L GT3R Flat 6
2) BMW M5 V8 Engine - maximum displacement 5L, with stock bore (94mm) and stroke 89mm), maximum RPM
7000, maximum valve lift of 0.445-inch, with twin intake air restrictors of 1.225-inch diameter
opening into the approved air box, and 11:1 maximum compression ratio.
3) TRD V8 Engine - maximum displacement 4.3L, with a bore of 90.03mm and a stroke 84.2mm. Maximum
allowable RPM 8200. Maximum compression ratio of 11:1. Maximum valve lift .470-inch at the valve.
Must use four-butterfly throttle body with 1.875-inch diameter throttle plates. Must run MOTEC
engine management system as specified by TRD.
4) GM LS6 V8 two-valve push rod Engine - maximum displacement 5.5L, with stock bore (3.898) and a
maximum stroke of 3.50 inches, maximum RPM7000, maximum valve lift of 0.585-inch, maximum rocker arm
ratio of 1.7:1, with the stock LS6 single throttle body (2.992-inch diameter) on the stock LS6
approved intake manifold, and 10.5:1 maximum compression ratio.
1) Ford 5.0 Modular 4-valve V8 Engine - maximum displacement 5L, with a maximum bore of 3.701 inches
and stock stroke of 3.543 inches. Maximum allowable RPM 7000. Maximum compression ratio of 11:1.
Maximum valve lift .500-inch at the valve. Maximum valve sizes - Intake-1.496-inch,
Exhaust-1.260-inch. Ford Motorsport Throttle body with dual 2.250-inch butterfly. Intake manifold
P/N M-9424-R96 or M-9424-R99 and Cylinder Heads P/N M-6049-T46 and M-6050-T46.
2. The following engines have been identified as eligible for competition in Daytona Prototypes.
These engines have not yet been accepted as approved engines.
