The cost of these things has been a question in the back of my mind for awhile.
Ceramic ball bearings are also widely used in high speed NC machine tool
bearings.

This outfit also sells thin section ball bearings that could save a bunch
of weight in a new PSRU design. These are usually pretty hard to find.
