It seems that if you go to http://www.carsdirect.com you can order an
RX-8 in you area at the MSRP plus a $500 delivery charge.

I ordered one last week from one of my local dealers. The largest in this
area. He said that the delivery charge is INCLUDED in the MSRP, and that
showed me the directive from Mazda USA. Indeed, it says that Mazda
"strongly suggests" that the dealer does not inflate the MSRP in any way,
including delivery charges, add ons, etc... and it goes on and on with
tricks dealers have used in the past.

I gave them a $500 deposit. The copy of the order I received says the
balance due is $500 less than the quoted MSRP for the car with the packages
I wanted. It also says on the order that any price increase between now and
delivery will not affect my order.

Asking around, I also found out that the dealer I ordered it from is only
being allocated 6 RX-8s for this year, and the other two local dealers are
only getting one or two each! Mazda is only going to make 18,000 of them
for this year.

BTW...in case anyone is interested, I ordered the Titanium gray, 6 speed
(includes the higher HP engine and 18 inch wheels), all black upholstery,
and that package also includes limited slip differential, oversized brakes
and sport tuned suspension.

Now...where am I going to find $26,700!
