left??........Your head??? :( PLEASE DON'T BREAK THAT ONE, we still
need it :)  BTW, your new project sounds great.......You've got the
right idea, keep all that stuff together, good move.

Laura, Linda recommends you use a good quality DUCT TAPE on Tracy, if
he gets out of line too much-too-soon-too quick......The downside is
you would have to hand feed him for us :)

I have real world question specifically to: Tracy Crook, Ed Anderson,
Chuck Dunlap & Perry Mick. If their answers differ from the way any
other subscriber's,  please include yourself in , otherwise DO NOT
reply.......This will keep the traffic to a minimum on the ACRE site.

"What Maximum RPM do your engines develop on FIRE-UP (Starting) "PEAK
ONLY", also state ambient Temperature"? I would like the average of
three (3) starts. Tracy, what's the RPM of the starter you use and the

ratio to the Starting Ring?

My sentiments exactly. Stay away from ladders Tracy and other risky
activities. Flying a rotary is OK :)

It Depends.
I usually have the thorottle cracked open a bit, It probably goes up to
2500-3000RPM as soon as it catches, depending on the throttle opening.
The lightweight wood prop does not have much mass at the tips so not
enough flywheel effect to keep RPM from peaking.
My Lycoming O-320 with 3 blade wood prop does the same thing (peak RPM
perhaps 1200-1500 RPM at startup) compared to a metal prop.
I can go out today and try to get some better numbers with your question
in mind.
