Keep checking. It is a fascinating engine to take apart and overhaul.
You can sometimes find a good 13B core for as little as $300.
I have not tried recently however. (Maybe us aircraft users have dried up
the supply of used engines :))
Anybody have a 13B core they are willing to part with?

Chris,
If you do not need high altitude cruise performance (say above 12,000 feet) then you might want to consider a NA peripheral port 13B. You can expect 215 to 225 HP by turning it a little higher RPM - I plan to turn 7400 max with a 6500 RPM cruise on my RV-4. High altitude cruise is an issue with all NA engines - nothing special about a peripheral port 13b in this reguard.
