That will work fine Jerry. The tubing walls need not be any greater
than .035 as the loads are very low.

One other thing Jerry. Make sure you integrate that bolted joint into
the metal firewall wall. That will stabilize the joint in the vertical
plane. As shown it will tend to force the middle of the cross tubes 
downward in a hard landing. Not much but but  better to be safe than 
sorry as it adds no weight.
