 Excellent idea.  Are the spools 3/4 inch o.d.?.  I have made steel
 tube benders before.  Half or 3/4" can be bent cold to 7" radiius.
 Nice thing is, this can be retrofitted to existing MMPs.

You only need a welded on washer on the aluminum side of the spool.
The rest of the spool can be made from 1/2 inch .049 wall tubing.
That should give about a 10 MM (.3937") ID. Run an "X" (.3970")
size drill through them to clean them out. One or two will have
to be turned on a lath because of the hollow dowel pins extending
out of the rear end housing. On those two spools extend them into
counter bores in the back side of the  motor plate to locate it.

Lets see about 16 inch diameter 50 inches of 1/2 at .035 is about
.8 pounds for the diagonals. Lets say one pound. .4 pounds for the
spools. Should weigh around a pound and half for the whole thing.

BTW on the starter side one short straight one will do between
the starter bolt and the 10 mm bell housing bolt.

Paul,   Amazing how you keep coming  up with this stuff.  I know
enough to come up with this design but I thought about the spacer for
days and  it never occurred to me.  I think I was short changed in
the gray matter department. I'm just smart enough to know I am not
smart enough.  Anyway,  the job required that I drive around most of
the day and while I drove the image of the truss spacer stayed with
me.  It is so cool.   Jerry

I think so too. Especially if you get it powdered coated.
