Subject: Pipe bends for manifolds.

 I am about to order some custom pipe bends for manifolds from
 RB Wagner. Is anybody interested in going in with me?

 I was able to fit a four inch inside center line radius bend inside my
 Kis Cruiser cowl. RB Wagner refers to that as a three inch inside
 radius bend.  Here is a pic or two. As you can see the pipes sit right down
 on top of the rotor housings.

 Stock RB Wagner bends come with two inch straight legs or no legs
 at all. What we need is about a five inch straight leg on one side
 and no leg or a two inch leg on the other side of the bend.

 I am thinking of ordering 1-1/2 inch (1.6 ID)  and 1-1/4 inch (1.4 ID)
 pipe with a three inch inside bend radii with one five inch long leg and
one

 two inch long leg. You can then cut them to fit your configuration
 and or tuning requirements. I am going to do this in the next few days
 so let me know as soon as possible.

 Pipe is a bit heavier than tubing but it is heat treated and the radii
 is greater than Burns Stainless tubing bends. (3" center line). It is
 also roughly half the price. Burns tubing bends are in the O condition
 which is near useless until it is heat treated.

Lately you have started enclosing the pictures in a different manner, and I
only get some of them.

In the past they showed as separate attachments, which downloaded fine after
getting the email message (AOL). Lately, some of them are "embedded" in the
mail message, and sometimes I get none of them, and sometimes my connection
times out as it tries to download it.

Do you know what the difference is on your end?


On the question of pipe bends, why for an intake manifold does it need to be
heat treated? it is low stress.

Second question, how do you heat treat the '0' condition burns bends -- I
used them for the cooling system.

Nothing on my end Bill. I send everything to myself and I see no changes.
Pic file size varies so that could be a factor with AOL.

Aluminum in the O state is extremely soft and can be damaged very very easily.
Especially when you start talking about thin wall tubing.

I am not familiar with the heat treating process.  Burns buy it in the T6 state 
and have it normalized to O and then bend it. Then they sent it out to have
it heat treated again.  I notice in the latest catalog they no longer do that. 
Probably to save money. Are you sure you have condition O?
