Well, I had fun this morning. The local RX-7 club occasionally gets hosted
by local rotary engine guru Rob Golden, owner of Pineapple Racing
(Portland, OR). Rob has been building rotary engines for 25 years or so
and has a lot of racing success to his credit. He has been a great local
source of info for me on the rotary and I know Ken Welter (Rotary Coot
Amphibian) has used him a bit. We asked and talked and joked about hot
rodding rotaries for the whole morning.
This was an informal Q&A session that lasted about 3 hours with about a
dozen people attending. I took the opportunity to field some questions
about "off road" applications. I think I could only have gotten more
answers if I had him all to myself. All the info I took notes on will take
too much to put in one email so I'll break it up according to subject.
To that end I'll post the following titles:
Pineapple Racing Q&A Injector Location
Pineapple Racing Q&A Exhaust tuning
Pineapple Racing Q&A mufflers
Pineapple Racing Q&A Oil
Pineapple Racing Q&A Plugs
I will probably take a couple of days to get it all written so be
patient. This may create some discussion as some answers are not in
perfect accord with some of the ACRE NL general wisdom and the email load
could quickly multiply as threads get rolling.
Most importantly, this is opinions from one source and we have a number of
rotary racers on here whose experience is equally valid.
