The insurance for auto conversion engines continues to be controversial. It seems the insurance
companies are granting coverage again for selected auto engine packages. While this is certainly
good news it is also not an acceptable situation because it leaves all those out in the rain with
packages that the insurance companies either do not know or consider unsafe.
We have talked about forming a new organization to support the "real" experimenters as we don't
see a good enough help from any of the established organizations. This new organization was now
called "Innovative Technology for Experimental Aviation Association", or ITEAA. We would like to
include not only the auto conversion builders but also those with technologies that are not really
recognized by EAA, AOPA or any other organization (i.e. glass cockpits, one-off design aircrafts,
custom props, ...).
Although the recent insurance crisis prompted to form itself we want to do much more than
fight for insurance coverage. Some of the major tasks will be to promote information exchange,
document technological achievements (and failures) to give new builders a better information base.
And to try to improve the safety of engine conversion installations with a program that is similar
to the EAA Technical Counselor and Flight Advisor programs from the EAA. We are not proposing new
rules, certifications and mandatory inspections but we want to actively exercise and demonstrate
to improve our safety.
At this time we are busy preparing the paperwork, talking to a ton of people and also - most
importantly - trying to find out how much interest there is.

I think it is a great idea and ITEAA should also become an insurance company on it's
own. Where do I sign up. We can have fly ins too. Every body please join this organization.
I have had it with the money grubbing EAA.

I believe. Associating the Mazda name with the 13B. in our aircraft would draw frivilous lawsuit and no
support from Mazda. I am all in favor of having a group that goes back to grass root experimental
aviation. Its a cryin shame that you almost always see a certificated kit aircraft or restoration on the
front of Sport Aviation.Maybe the group could take on the Kitplane magazine as the media vehicle to get
the word out!

and on and on. Just put EAA as a key word in the google search engine.
