When I first saw a picture of the RX8 motor there was a
lower cast aluminum first 90 degree bend intake manifold that
looked ideal for our purposes. Unfortunately it appears that
manifold did not make it into production. Looks like I will be
doing another intake manifold pattern when the RX8 motor comes out.
It also looks like Mazda is using the Kabota all aluminum
sheet metal impeller water pump cartridge. Same as the third gen.
That means another water pump pattern. Good thing it only take
me a couple of days.
Look at the lack of warp on that water pump pulley. That has got to
slip badly under high engine acceleration. I can't believe that
will make it into production.
Notice also the four separate coils.
This picture was in May 2003 Sports Car International magazine
with the RX8 on the cover and a great article about it.
