Toyota pays for all the oil, filter and tire replacement for 3.5

years.

All the electrical part (Batt. Packs etc ) is covered 100% for 100K

miles or

8 years. Vancouver taxi cab drove one Prius for 200K miles without

problems

and Toyota bought it back to study the wear on the car.

I got a couple of brochures from the Toyota dealer today.
The Prius is the same car as the Echo. Interior dimensions except for
the trunk are within an inch of each other. Same 1.4 L engine except
the echo is 108 HP at 6000 RPM. The Pirus engine is derated to 70 HP at
4500 RPM because it has to work harder and charge the batteries.

Echo 49 MPG Prius 51 MPG.

The big difference is the weight and cost. The Echo cost half as
much and is 765 pounds lighter!!!!! Almost half a ton!!!!!

The Prius is about the same weight as an RX8 with a 250 HP engine.

So much for acceleration and tire life :)


BTW when driving a hybrid on two lane roads where passing acceleration
is paramount be careful when you pass several times in a row or you have
just climbed a long hill. Your battery may be dead just when you need it
the most and so too your hybrid's ability to accelerate at high speeds (if

you

can call it that). You could wind up as a bug splat on the grill of a
Kenworthy tractor trailer truck.

There is a new business scheme rampant in the world to make money.
Target the dummies with emotional belief systems. Those that are
logic and reason challenged..... like women :)

I must have an unusual Toyota Pruis....I find that even at 80 mph,
acceleration is excellent for passing. (The fastest I have had it was 95mph,
figured that was fast enough....don't need a ticket on my commercial
driver's license) This thing has twice the acceleration my Geo Metro had,
and is similar to our Camry. Being heavier, it has a much quieter and
smoother ride than my little Geo Metro had. In the Geo, you could tell your
speed by road noise. Not so in the Prius.  It's the finest car we've owned,
including the Mercedes.  Just my 2 cents worth. Paul Conner.   (Of course,
it will never be as smooth as my 13b powered aircraft...ha-ha).

Excellent? Have you ever driven a Corvette? A rotary powered car?
How can a 110 HP 2760 pound car not counting the passengers have excellent 
acceleration?

F=MA it is not just a good idea... it is the law!!!

Of course its smooth. Put 750 pounds of lead in your Geo Metro and
it will be smooth too.
