Subject: Sump tank

The NSI sump tank has a holly float mechanism between the
incoming
fuel
line
and the tank. The incoming fuel boost pumps are switched by
a
low
level
switch on
the sump tank and fuel flow shut off by the float on the
tank.
Fuel
does
not
seem to
heat up at all.

Does the plane in question have EFI?  If not, what is the value
of
this
observation?

Hey Tracy,

    Yes they do use EFI. All stock Subaru on the engine as far as I
can
see.

Ron,

    On the NSI Glastar there was two pumps. The first was a 3.5 psi pump for
filling the header tank and the second was the high pressure pump for
pressurising the rails. I didn't like the idea of just having one high
pressure pump but NSI is supposed to be introducing a second seperate
throttle body style system as a backup. The first Soob Glastar I flew had
two parallel high pressure pumps for redundancy and gravity fed the header
tank mounted below the baggage floor. With the right sized fuel lines I
don't see why you couldn't gravity feed from a low wing, my C-140 crossflows
quite quickly if I select BOTH with only one tank full.
