Sure, only with the surface hardened to RC55.

7075T6 is the hardest aluminum around and it is Brinell
150. RC 55 is off the Brinell scale with the standard 10 mm ball
and
is Brinell 546 with the Hultgren ball whatever that is.

How Right you are Paul. I wonder what magic aluminum this is! Hard
anodize is the toughest
surface, and it stinks as a running surface.  7075 also doesn't take
coatings or anodize well.

Why would you think it stinks as a running surface Bill?
And why would you say that 7075 doesn't anodize well?  It is hard
anodized in numerious applications
in the aerospace and industrial applications for it's excellent abrasion
abilities when hard
anodized.

7075 is not a castable alloy.

Remember that the wankel's first 20 years were hindered by material
compatiblity issues until Mazda finally got the right mix of seal and
running surfaces, They had a team of very good engineers working this issue
with the support of test cells and a prototyping budget. They came up with
nitrided cast steel/iron as a side housing wear surface. What will your
prototype engine cost you with the anodized side housings? If you can afford
it (and we can see that you are convinced) we would love to see the result
of an FAA Part ?? type 50 hour endurance test. Please don't fly this
configuration without stressing it on a test bed and then doing a teardown.
