Hard anodized aluminum is not a coating, but a process that changes the
metal
properties. It creates aluminum oxide, the same material some sandpaper
is made
from.  It will cut steel in the sand paper, grind stone form.  In that
form it is
grainy like grains of sand. In the polished state it is smooth as
polished stone,
in effect it is a sort of polished stone.  It's hardness is rc 65 and
greater,
depending on the process.
Hard anodizing is .002 thick or greater, 1/2 of the process is under the
surface
and the other 1/2 grows on the surface itself.
The Det gun process sprays the material onto the surface at such
velocities that
some of the particles are embeded in the metal itself. The others cling
to the
surface. Carbide can be used for severe hardness.
Hard anodizing is part of the metal itself.

You should have come to sun n fun, :-), you would have been able to see
the
models/patterns of the components.  (kinda hard to explain this without
you
looking at the pieces) The inlet is a P-Port. It uses the factory
exhaust port as
the intake port. The exhaust ports are in the end housings, and are in
the thick
piece of the housing. No seals are needed.

The end plate gaskets are just a gasket between the plates, a leak here
is no
different than a leak in the cooling circuit anywhere.  The plates of
the end
housings have the coolant passages in the housings and they are not
exposed to the
combustion chamber or the sump any differently than they would be in the
factory
engine.
The coolant and oil circuits are the same as the factory circuits.

Thanks mate, yep I'd love to have been at Sun and Fun to see everyone
including my Vision mates, but only just returned from 3 months in the USA
leaves me a little short of cash, so maybe next time.

I had forgotten you were P.Porting - solves a problem !!

Maybe your right on the wear pattern, it was mostly 13bs I was looking at,
however that is what Paul and the others are using anyway.

You seem convinced that the surface treatment will work, I can only say
"give it a go" and see what happens, that's what experimentation is all
about. I'm sure were all keen to see some results.
