Robin took this picture yesterday of a blimp engine fan.
Robin's friend, Sandy Hoffecker is the pilot and A&P mechanic on
this blimp based in an old hangar at Norton AF base CA.
The engines are VW based Limbock's (s?). Looks geared
to me as that is an awfully big prop for a VW engine.
It needs a big prop for high static thrust as top speed
is 35 MPH.
Does Limbock make a geared version Mark Wrathal?
Also the fan looks like it is an off the shelf industrial
blower of some sort. Note the missing blades behind the prop.
