Subject: The ultimate NA aircraft rotary engine intake manifold?

Was that a four cylinder four cycle engine? Did they try dynamic chambers?
I suspect a dynamic chamber will work on a four cylinder
four cycle engine.

Paul, Bear with me if this came through already, the computer is acting up.
Yes it was a 4 cylinder, 4 cycle engine. Kawasaki tried all sorts of manifolds
hoping to make carb selection easier. No manifold worked better than a straight
shot individual carb system. To be fair it was operating around 10K rpm and the
needed dynamic chamber system might have been too short to be practical. More
surprising was that they tried all the collector exhausts available and found
that none of them worked as well as 4, 1-1/2 in diameter 18 inch long unmuffled
straight pipes! In fact most collector systems caused a LOSS of power over
the stock (1973) 4 pipe system. They were a lot lighter of course, but not
as powerful. Bill Jepson

10K impossible to make. I suspect a 6K version might have a
somewhat broader torque curve than the simple straight pipe so it might
be pretty good for our use. Better BSFC at cruise.

Trouble is straight pipes at 6000 RPM would be 14 inches. Too long
to fit most cowls. Now 8000 RPM might be another matter.

BTW please truncate your lines to 80 characters or so,
Those long lines play hell after awhile. I have been doing it manually.
