The engine runs fine it just cuts the spark plug life down
to 50 or 100 hours. All the guys are forced to use 100 LL on
their cross country trips due to the rarity of auto fuel.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that statement, as it fouls my

plugs badly. I swore off the

stuff. I'm looking into contacting EAA members near my fuel stops to

help me get mogas, or to

see if gas stations near the airport can deliver mogas to the

airport for me. 80 Avgas works

fine when it is available.

You would think if my engine was running so lean, the lead wouldn't

be such a factor???

You might need hotter or colder plugs Perry. What have you tried so

far?

Some of the other guys do not seem to be affected as much.

Also you are running the stock ignition as I recall. An MSD system
will punch through lead fouling as it has a much more rapid rise
time.

I ran some BUR7EQP in all four locations, hoping to extend plug life.
Went back to BUR9EQ in the leading. MSD could be a solution if you
absolutely have to burn 100LL, but I'm looking at alternatives to

avoid it.

I'm still wondering about using an anti-lead-fouling additive like Alcor
TCP concentrate (Aircraft Spruce, p 158).  Has anybody tried it?

Yes, someone mentioned it to me. I'll get some and keep it in the plane
in case of emergency (so it might be awhile before I actually try it).

I think I saw a few cans on the shelf at Columbia Airmotive in Troutdale,
(OR), 503-665-4896.  You have to catch them Monday-Friday.  They aren't on
TTD, about a mile up the hill.

Why is it my O-470 aircraft runs on 100LL without fouling
the plugs? Perry are you injecting crank case  oil or mixing
two cycle oil with the fuel?
