Tom,

You might want to give Bill Husa at Orion Technologies some
consideration.  Bill has been a big contributor of information on my
website and he is a very competent designer.  I contacted him about your
problem and he felt the number you were quoted seemed way out of line
assuming we are talking a fairly conventional type design.  He and his
crew can also fabricate the prototype if that is something the customer
is interested in.  He told me this may bring the overall cost of the
project down because the design and construction process proceed in a
more seamless fashion.  He gave me some more specifics but I don't want
to post our correspondence here on this list.  Email me for the details
